Tasting Notes
We named this rosé Impromptu as a salute to each special vintage that the wine would come to us by serendipity, only in the years when Black Queen is able to ripen to express its zesty invigorating flavors.
2019 vintage demonstrated to us as vintner that beautiful wines can be born from a tumultuous growing season. During the critical ‘veraison’ phase in May when dry weather is necessary for healthy ripening, we received the largest rainfall in the past five years. Thereafter, after a month of further ripening and slow fermentation, we allowed the wine to mature steadily over a year.
The crisp fruity attack brings a rich variety of Asian plums from green, yellow, to red and purple plums, red cherry, roselle and grapefruit. Supple in the mid-palate with layers of polished savory minerality to its complexity, leaving an impression of purity and finesse in a rosé of its own class.
Suggested serving at 12-15°C.

Tasting Notes
This wine has been in the making for three years. In 2017, specially later harvested grapes arrived from a small block, and this wine was born in a beautiful impromptu as we set out to find truths in our sole traditional red grape Black Queen.
Alluring aromas of plum, strawberry and raspberry carrying hints of citrus and herbs entice the palate. Fresh crisp acidity follows in a polished, mineral, savory quality, finishing brightly and vibrantly. These succulent flavors come together to reveal the grape’s layers of vivacity it is keen to share and celebrate.
